Perfect Base for Exploring on Foot

Kanazawa is easily reached from Tokyo by Hokuriku Shinkansen in about 2.5 hours, and from Kanazawa Station,
Higashi Chaya District is just a short bus ride away.
Yet once you arrive, the city invites you to slow down and explore on foot.
From the retreat, Omicho Market, Kenrokuen Garden, and Kanazawa Castle Park are roughly 15–20 minutes on foot.
The 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art is also conveniently accessible. For first-time visitors especially, it is an ideal base for discovering the city at a relaxed pace,
without the intensity of Japan’s more crowded historic destinations.
Café TSURUKA — A Refined Stop in Higashi Chaya

Located in the heart of Higashi Chaya, Café TSURUKA is a calm and refined café and dining space where guests can enjoy Japanese sweets,
seasonal desserts, and light meals. Alongside Kyoto cuisine, “Kaga cuisine” is one of only two culinary traditions in Japan registered as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Inspired by the aesthetic sensibility of Kaga cuisine and crafted using traditional Japanese culinary techniques, our Japanese sweets offer an approachable way to experience the refined flavors of Kanazawa.
After exploring the streets of Higashi Chaya, guests can also return to Café TSURUKA for seasonal Japanese sweets—a quiet reward that captures the beauty of Kanazawa.
Soak, Unwind, and Slow Down

In the Edo period, having a private bath at home was a luxury reserved for samurai residences and
a select number of affluent households. This private hinoki bath carries that traditional Japanese bathing culture into the present day.
Hinoki has long been prized in Japan as a fine building material—so highly valued that Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the great unifier of Japan, used it in the construction of castles.
Also designed to be enjoyed as a steam sauna, this peaceful space offers a luxurious moment of quiet relaxation, gently soothing both body and mind.
