[Toshiharu Ryokan]

Regarding Children’s Accommodation

Our ryokan is housed in a traditional wooden Kyoto machiya building with over 115 years of history, offering guests a quiet and extraordinary retreat experience.
Due to the nature of the building and the absence of soundproofing facilities, we regret that we are unable to accommodate children under the age of 14.
We sincerely appreciate your kind understanding.

■ Authentic Japanese-Style Rooms with Kyoto Tatami

All rooms feature traditional Kyoto-style tatami floors.
To honor Japanese culture, seasonal decorations such as ikebana and hanging scrolls are arranged.
Upon arrival, we welcome guests with handmade Japanese sweets and matcha tea.

■ Registered Tangible Cultural Property

Both the main building and the storehouse are registered as National Tangible Cultural Properties.
The architecture includes high earthen walls, unique timber, and rare wave-patterned glass.
Each room offers a view of the garden, which is beautifully illuminated at night—please enjoy its enchanting atmosphere.

■ Breakfast

Breakfast is served between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM at your preferred time.
We do not offer dinner, but we’re happy to recommend excellent local restaurants nearby.

■ Bath Facilities

Guest rooms do not include private baths. (Only the "Aoi" room has a private shower.)
We offer two private-use baths: a Hinoki cypress bath and a Kōyamaki bath, known as the finest of Japanese wooden tubs.
You may reserve a time upon check-in.
With only five rooms in total, the baths are usually not crowded.
Relax and enjoy the subtle fragrance of natural wood.

■ Toilets

Only the “Satsuki” and “Aoi” rooms have private toilets.
Guests in other rooms are asked to use one of the three shared restrooms in the building.

■ About the Building

Our inn is a 115-year-old traditional Kyoto townhouse, originally built as a private residence in the late Meiji era.
Due to the historic architecture, some sounds—such as footsteps from upstairs—may carry.
We appreciate your understanding as part of preserving Kyoto’s cultural heritage.

To maintain the traditional ambiance, there are no TVs in the rooms.
However, portable TVs are available upon request at no extra charge—please ask our staff if needed.
