From Tuesday, August 20, 2025 to Monday, September 30, 2025, we will be carrying out exterior wall construction on "Aki no Yakata."

During this construction, you will be unable to see outside from your room.

There may also be some noise.

■ About Houshi – The Oldest Ryokan in the Hokuriku Region
The history of Houshi began alongside that of Mt. Hakusan, one of Japan's three most sacred mountains, which celebrated its founding over 1,300 years ago.
The story begins when Hakusan Daigongen, a mountain deity, appeared in a dream to Taicho Daishi—a great Buddhist monk undergoing rigorous training on Mt. Hakusan—and revealed the existence of a hidden sacred spring deep underground.

Following this divine message, Taicho Daishi journeyed to this land of Awazu and successfully unearthed the sacred spring. He then instructed his close disciple, Garyo Houshi, who had long served by his side, to build a hot spring inn at the site and entrusted him with its care. This was the origin of what is now known as "Houshi."
After Garyo Houshi’s passing, his adopted son, Zengoro, succeeded him as the second-generation caretaker. Since then, the inn has been operated solely by Houshi’s descendants, continuing for 47 generations—a rare tradition even on a global scale. To this day, the family faithfully preserves and protects the sacred spring.

Floor plan: 18.58 square meters of Japanese Style room + Twin Bedroom + bathroom (hot spring)

This Japanese & Western room has the most wonderful view of the garden in the Haru no Yakata, which has a spacious 12-tatami Japanese-style room and bedroom, equipped with two beds with Simmons mattresses.

When you open the window, you will see the national registered monument, scenic spot garden and the flowing stream, and feel like you’re right inside the garden.

You will spend a wonderful time in this spacious Japanese and Western-style room while viewing the historical Japanese garden.

You can also enjoy the hot spring in your room.
 *There is no shower in the open-air bathroom. Please take a shower in the indoor bath before using a hot tub.
*Since the hot spring water is natural, the temperature may fluctuate. In that case, the water temperature will be adjusted with hot water or tap water. Please be aware of this before making a reservation.

*The beds are equipped with Simmons mattresses for a comfortable sleep.
