Former Matsushita Residence
A compact, newly built single-story house stands on the site of a unique, maze-like building that had undergone numerous additions and renovations over the years.
The raised tatami living area features a spacious 2 m × 2 m sofa cushion, creating a comfortable space where you can relax and unwind.
From every room, you can enjoy views of the garden and the lush greenery across the river, allowing you to spend a peaceful and refreshing time surrounded by nature.
The round dining table, dining chairs with comfortable armrests, pendant lights with ceramic shades, and the low chairs and table set in the tatami area are all made in Japan.
In addition to a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, the house features a private natural hot spring, sauna, cold plunge bath, and outdoor relaxation space.
The bathtub is made from Koya-maki (Japanese umbrella pine), a traditional wood prized for its beautiful aroma and water resistance.

Surrounded by the warmth of natural wood, each house offers a peaceful and relaxing space, complete with a Kirishima natural hot spring bath featuring a Koya-maki-style bathtub, as well as a sauna and cold plunge bath.

At the center of the four houses is a shared space featuring a traditional cooking area.
For an additional fee, you can enjoy freshly cooked rice prepared in a traditional Hagama rice pot, as well as Somen Nagashi, a popular Kagoshima-style flowing noodle experience.
Gather around the traditional Irori hearth and enjoy a unique opportunity to connect with fellow travelers and experience a memorable moment of Japanese hospitality.
Food and dining experiences are available for an additional fee.
Each house is equipped with an IH kitchen and cooking utensils.
With a supermarket and convenience store just a one-minute walk away, you can easily purchase fresh ingredients and enjoy Kirishima's local culinary delights even during stays of two nights or longer.
