About thirty minutes by train from Kobe Sannomiya. This plan is for guests who want the hot spring and a quiet room, and nothing else on the schedule.

Check-in runs until 21:00, so a late arrival is no trouble. The next day is yours until noon: take one more turn around the baths before you leave.

HOT SPRING

The baths — our own source, and the “gold spring”

Arima has few inns with a spring source on their own grounds. Ours feeds the reddish-brown “gold spring” (kinsen), iron-rich water long called the all-purpose bath, known for easing nerve pain, aching muscles and stiff joints.

Our large baths, Kinpa-no-yu and Ginpa-no-yu, have indoor baths, open-air baths and saunas. Your stay also includes the baths at our sister inn, Yugetsusanso, across the bridge, and the open-air baths along the Takigawa, Ofuku-no-yu and Tamahoko-no-yu, fed straight from the source.

※ All baths close at midnight.
※ We also have three private baths — Hinoki, Cave and Wine — by reservation, at extra charge. They are not open-air, and they are not filled with hot spring water.
※ All of our rooms are non-smoking. Smoking areas are provided in the building.

If this is your first stay at a ryokan

This is a tatami room: you sleep on futon bedding laid out on the tatami floor rather than in a bed. Shoes come off at the entrance.

The large baths are communal and are taken without swimwear, separately for men and women. Please wash and rinse at the taps before getting into the bath.

ABOUT US

Gekkoen — two inns, one valley

Gekkoen is two inns facing each other across the Takigawa: Korokan and Yugetsusanso. Above them stands Mt. Ochibayama, one of the three peaks of Arima, and the view across the water is one you will not find elsewhere in the town. Gekkobashi, the bridge between the two, is where most of our guests stop for a photograph.

Getting here

We run a minibus from Arima-Onsen Station and from the bus stops in Arima. Once you have arrived in Arima, please call us on 078-903-5503 and we will come for you (8:00–19:00).
