Nonohanatei Komurasaki is a traditional Japanese inn conveniently located near Izukyu-Shimoda Station in the heart of Shimoda, a historic hot spring port town known for its white-sand beaches with AA-rated water quality and the arrival of Commodore Perry's Black Ships, which marked the beginning of Japan's opening to the world.
The inn is nestled at the foot of Mount Shimoda Fuji, known in local folklore as the elder sister of Mount Fuji.
Many of Shimoda's popular attractions are within walking distance, including the Shimoda Ropeway, traditional shopping streets lined with namako-kabe (sea cucumber walls), Shimoda Port, and Perry Road.
Our inn is also an ideal base for exploring the Izu Peninsula, with attractions such as Shirahama Beach, Tsumekizaki Cape, Ryugu Sea Cave, Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival, Hina Doll Hanging Decoration Festival, Cape Irozaki, Kawazu Seven Waterfalls, Aloe Center, Minami Cherry Blossom and Rapeseed Flower Festival, Shirahama Shrine, Yumigahama Beach, Izu Shaboten Zoo, Izu Animal Kingdom, iZoo, Izu Granpal Park, and Shimoda Underwater Aquarium.
Our inn has just five guest rooms, welcoming only five groups of guests at a time.
Each of our five guest rooms is named after a flower: Kobushi, Murasaki, Ran, Sakuraso, and Kikyo.
Every guest room features a private open-air bath made of natural Izu stone, filled with free-flowing natural hot spring water (kakenagashi) from Shimoda Onsen.
The gentle hot spring water is considered suitable even for expectant mothers, although guests who are pregnant should consult their healthcare provider before bathing.
The water tends to be slightly warmer in summer and cooler in winter. In addition to the hot spring water tap, hot and cold freshwater taps are provided so you can adjust the temperature to your preference.
With a private open-air hot spring bath in your guest room, you can enjoy bathing whenever you wish, for as long as you like, without worrying about other guests. Each guest room also includes a separate indoor bath, which does not use hot spring water.
