Founded over 150 years ago,
Okamotoya Ryokan continues to preserve the long-standing hot spring healing culture of the Myoban area in Beppu.

The Myoban hot springs are rich in sulfur and natural minerals.
For centuries, they have been valued as restorative waters for both body and mind.
Today, thanks to their mineral content, they are also known as “beauty-enhancing hot springs,” gentle on the skin.

Drawing on this traditional long-stay hot spring healing philosophy,
and combining it with a modern wellness perspective,
Okamotoya offers a unique style of stay we call a
Hot Spring–Based Wellness Retreat.

This retreat is not about “treatment” or pushing the body.
Instead, it is time to gently rebalance—
without strain, without effort, simply as you are.

This program is designed as a long-stay wellness retreat centered on hot springs.

Rather than filling your schedule,
you are encouraged to listen to your body and mood each day,
and cherish:

・time spent soaking in the hot springs,

・time doing nothing at all,

・and time for deep, restful sleep.

Your stay itself becomes a gradual process of restoring balance.
Stepping away from daily life,
this is a quiet retreat to reconnect with yourself.

This program is designed to preserve the freedom and spaciousness that long stays allow.

Seasonal ingredients rich in vitamins and minerals
are gently steamed using natural hot spring steam,
a local cooking method known as Jigoku-Mushi (hot spring steaming).

Inspired by traditional East Asian balance philosophies,
these dishes aim to support circulation and overall harmony.

◆ Breakfast

A Japanese-style breakfast featuring seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.
Including Beppu’s regional specialty Dango Soup,
the meal offers comforting, gentle flavors to start your day.

＊ About Room Cleaning During Your Stay

This program is designed for a quiet, restful hot spring wellness stay.
For this reason, room cleaning is provided only once during your stay.

If you would like additional cleaning service, it is available for an extra fee:
Additional Cleaning Fee: JPY 1,500 per service

If requested,
fresh sheets, towels, and other linens can be prepared and placed at the entrance of your room,
allowing us to respect your privacy and maintain a peaceful stay.
