Official Decision on the Revision of Kyoto City Accommodation Tax (Effective March 1, 2026)

Kyoto City has conducted consultations with the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications under the Local Tax Act, following the approval of the revised ordinance at the February 2025 City Assembly concerning the revision of the accommodation tax.

As of today, the Minister’s consent has been obtained, and the revision of the accommodation tax — which raises certain tax rates in accordance with guests’ ability to pay — has been officially decided. The revised tax rates will take effect on March 1, 2026 (Reiwa 8).

Overview of the Revision

Effective March 1, 2026, Kyoto City will revise its accommodation tax rates based on the accommodation fee per person per night. The current rate of ¥200 will remain unchanged for stays costing less than ¥6,000. For stays between ¥6,000 and less than ¥20,000, a new tax rate of ¥400 will apply. For accommodation fees between ¥20,000 and less than ¥50,000, the tax will increase from ¥500 to ¥1,000. Guests staying at accommodations priced between ¥50,000 and less than ¥100,000 will see their tax rise significantly from ¥1,000 to ¥4,000, while those paying ¥100,000 or more per night will be subject to a new rate of ¥10,000 per person per night.

Meal charges are not included in the accommodation tax.

Our breakfast is served in traditional Japanese style, featuring YUDOFU boiled tofu, grilled fish, Japanese omelette, vegetables, MISO soup, and rice. You can select your preferred breakfast time from the available options: 7:30 AM, 8:00 AM, 8:30 AM, or 9:00 AM. Enjoy your meal at our garden restaurant.

The package includes traditional Japanese sweets and Japanese tea.

Dining Options:
Yachiyo is a famous (RYOTEI) restaurant in Kyoto. Dinner can be chosen through  A FAMOUS JAPANESE BEEF CUISINE course, WASHOKU KYOKAISEKI course. We introduce Japanese food. Please let me know what you cannot eat. We cannot offer full vegetarian food.
If you need dinner or breakfast during your stay, please make a reservation by email at least 3 days in advance.Meal reservations require a confirmation issued by us in this email.    

The time of the Dinner can be chosen from the time of onset at PM17:00,17:30,18:00,18:30,19:00,19:30.
