Notice: Introduction of the Miyagi Prefecture Accommodation Tax
Thank you very much for your continued patronage of Kappa no Yado Ryokan Sanjirō.
In accordance with the enforcement of the Miyagi Prefecture Accommodation Tax Ordinance,
an accommodation tax will be applied to guests staying with us from Tuesday, 13 January 2026.
 
The accommodation tax will be charged at 300 yen per person,
per night, and applies when the room rate per guest is 6,000 yen or more (excluding tax).
This amount will be collected separately from the room charge.

At Kappa no Yado Ryokan Sanjiro, nestled in the scenic town of Zao, Miyagi Prefecture, we invite you to indulge in Sendai Beef, one of Japan's most highly regarded wagyu brands.

This exclusive package allows you to compare two distinctive preparations of premium Sendai Beef: a thick-cut Sendai Beef loin steak and delicately prepared Sendai Beef Dashi Shabu-Shabu.

The steak may be enjoyed cooked to your preferred doneness and paired with our special sauce, wasabi soy sauce, or a touch of salt to fully appreciate the beef's rich flavor.

For the Dashi Shabu-Shabu, thin slices of Sendai Beef loin are lightly swished through our specially prepared broth, enhancing the meat's natural umami and exceptionally tender texture.

Savor the finest Sendai Beef while overlooking the magnificent Zao Mountain Range and enjoy an unforgettable luxury ryokan experience.

Dining Information

Dinner

In addition to a seasonal Kaiseki dinner featuring carefully selected local ingredients from Miyagi Prefecture, guests will enjoy:

• Sendai Beef Steak

• Sendai Beef Dashi Shabu-Shabu

Dinner starting times:

• 6:00 PM
• 6:30 PM
• 7:00 PM

* Dining venue usage is limited to a maximum of 2 hours from the selected starting time.

* Dinner service may be discontinued if no notice is received and arrival is delayed beyond 8:00 PM.

* Please note that substitutions or modifications to the Sendai Beef Steak and Sendai Beef Dashi Shabu-Shabu included in this package are not available.

Breakfast

A healthy Japanese-style breakfast set will be served at one of the following times:

• 7:30 AM
• 8:00 AM
• 8:30 AM

* The breakfast venue is available until 9:00 AM.

Children's Meals

Elementary School Children

Children will be served a meal similar to the adult menu, with fewer courses than the adult Kaiseki meal.

If preferred, a children's lunch-style meal may be arranged instead.

* Please let us know your preference when making your reservation.

Preschool Children

A children's lunch-style meal will be provided.

Dietary Information

We regret that we are unable to accommodate individual food allergies, special dietary requirements (including low-sodium or low-fat meals), or religious and cultural dietary requests such as Halal, Vegetarian, Vegan, or Shojin cuisine.

Dining Venue

Meals will be served either in our private dining restaurant "Kamado" or in a private banquet room.

The dining venue will be assigned by the ryokan according to the number of guests in your party.

Important Information

• A hot spring bathing tax of JPY 150 per person (junior high school age and above) will be charged separately.

• For children aged 3–5 who do not require meals or bedding, a facility usage fee of JPY 3,850 (tax included) will apply.

• Children under 3 years old are subject to an additional facility usage fee of JPY 1,650 (tax included).

• If you expect to arrive after 6:00 PM, futon bedding may be prepared in your room in advance due to dinner service scheduling.

• If check-in is delayed beyond 7:00 PM, we kindly ask that you proceed to the dining venue promptly after entering your room, as dinner service times are limited.

Miyagi Prefecture Accommodation Tax

Effective January 13, 2026, an accommodation tax of JPY 300 per person per night will be charged separately for stays with a room rate of JPY 6,000 or more per person (before tax).

Enjoy a relaxing stay in a traditional Japanese-style room with beautiful views of the Zao mountain range.

Many rooms overlook the magnificent Zao mountains, while some offer peaceful views of the wooded hillside behind our ryokan.

Selected rooms also feature a fragrant Japanese cypress (hinoki) bath, where you can unwind in the soothing aroma of natural wood.

Room sizes range from 10 to 12.5 tatami mats, providing a comfortable space to relax. While we are happy to accept requests for room size or a room with a hinoki bath, these requests cannot be guaranteed.

We will do our best to accommodate your preferences whenever possible.

Please note that our ryokan is not barrier-free.

Some areas require the use of stairs, which may make the property less suitable for guests with limited mobility. We appreciate your understanding.
