Ōmishima – The "Island of the Gods" & the Heart of the Shimanami Kaidō

The Shimanami Kaidō consists of multiple islands, and Ōmishima is known as the "Island of the Gods."
It is the center of Shimanami tourism, offering many must-see attractions!

One of the island’s highlights is Ōyamazumi Shrine, a highly revered shrine ranked alongside Ise Shrine and Izumo Taisha in importance.
Next to the shrine is the Treasury Museum, which houses 70% of Japan's nationally designated treasures of samurai armor and weaponry.

 

Additionally, the shops along the shrine’s approach are popular among visitors.

Ōmishima Brewery – A local craft beer brewery offering unique citrus-infused beers and other delicious varieties.
