The guest room KOHOO at Sumiya-Kihoan is a continuation of the iron passageways of gallery Hakutai. Within the room these pathways come to represent the contrasting concepts of heaven and earth, life and death, physical and metaphysical, offering guests an extraordinary experience unified through art.
“Kohoo is a suite room with private baths where you can immerse yourself into the artistic world of Yukinori Yanagi. Through the metal door, symbolic pathways lead you to the dining room on one end, the bedroom on the other and two outdoor baths. While enjoying the hot spring, you can become part of the art.
Completed in collaboration with traditional craftsmen based here in Kyoto – ceramic artist Naoto Ishi; obi master Genbei Yamaguchi; master plasterer Akira Kusumi; washi craftsman Wataru Hatano – the space itself has become a work of art.
Accompanied by a special meal served by chef Kunihiko Hosoi.
Please enjoy your stay in this unique environment.
