Yugo Onsen is one of the “Three Hot Springs of Mimasaka, Okayama Prefecture,” renowned as one of the finest hot spring villages in the Chugoku region.
Legend has it that it was discovered during the Heian period by the Tendai Buddhist monk Jikaku Daishi, guided by a white heron,
earning it the alternate name “Sagi no Yu” (Heron Hot Spring).
It is also popular among women as a hot spring known for its skin-beautifying properties.
