Former Kumagai Residence
This house was originally a two-story residence and barber shop standing at the entrance to a narrow traditional alleyway. It has been thoughtfully renovated into a single-story house while preserving the character of the original building.
The original pillars and beams have been retained and left exposed, allowing guests to appreciate the history and craftsmanship of the building. The dining area features a distinctive latticework ceiling that adds warmth and character to the space.
The outdoor porch deck provides a relaxing place to sit and take in the lush greenery that fills the surrounding alleyway.
Inside, the space is furnished with Japanese washi paper lighting, a wooden round dining table, and original chairs. A wooden lounge chair by the window offers another comfortable spot to relax and enjoy the view.
In addition to a fully equipped kitchen and dining area, the house features a private natural hot spring, sauna, cold plunge bath, and outdoor relaxation space.
The bathtub is made from Koya-maki (Japanese umbrella pine), a traditional wood prized for its beautiful aroma and water resistance.
